Summer Scripture Theme

This summer's scripture theme is "Love the Lord your God" from Mark 12:30.  Some of you may wonder how this ties into our summer theme "Blast Off!".  Well, Jesus calls this our greatest commandment and in the Small Catechism, Luther begins each of his explanations of the 10 Commandments with the phrase, "We are to fear and love God..."

You can see that everything we do is founded in our love for God. So, what better scripture verse for "Blast Off!" than to remember that it is all rooted in our Love for God?  Love for God is the foundation of all that we do.  Love for God is our “launching pad”.

So, as you talk to your congregation, staff and campers about this year's theme "Blast Off!", don't forget to teach them that our launching pad for all of this is to remember to "Love the Lord your God."

Training Updates

For those of you looking for more information on training, please refer to these documents. As in previous years, there are three options for training events.

PR PACKET
One of the greatest tools for PR is to make sure your former campers know that they matter to you. Have your staff members from previous summers write personal messages on the postcards included in this packet, inviting campers to return for 2008 with friends. Also send these to every member of your congregation, neighboring churches, your community, etc.
You can download the complete packet as well as individual images below. You will need MS Publisher to open the PR packet.

Second, congregations with at least one year's experience can send experienced leaders to the Train the Trainer event and become certified to lead your own training. Finally, you can attend The Disciple Project at Texas Lutheran University June 29-July 3. Download details on prices and dates below:

Summer 2007 Evals

Hi Everyone,

I know most of you have had time to start recovering from camp while some of you are still in the middle of your three weeks! Before you start working on things for the fall, please take a few minutes to fill out this evaluation for us.

Please answer each question as completely as you can and include any other information that would be helpful for us to know as we begin planning the curriculum and trainings for 2008. We need your feedback to help Camp Hope grow.

Also-watch the blog this week for information about next summer's theme and early PR resources that you can use to get families excited about coming back to camp.

Peace!
Kristen
